We are excited to share that our Daniel Residence will be featured on the 2024 AIA Austin Homes Tour!
A modern re-interpretation of the traditional shotgun typology, this art-filled home is embedded into its narrow site through a continuous procession of living spaces. These spatial elements are anchored together with uninterrupted sightlines to the outdoors and a visual gradient of natural shading that brightens with progression into the site. The main floor entry is articulated by a floating steel stair and flows past the sunken formal sitting room into the extensively glazed kitchen and dining space. Views of the Austin skyline greet you from the second floor.

Grand Valley Catholic Outreach has consistently upheld the belief that "you can’t end homelessness without homes." Mother Teresa Place marks Chamberlin Architect's fourth initiative to expand housing solutions in pursuit of this goal. This project will feature 40 units, surpassing the scale of previous efforts, and will specifically cater to the most vulnerable, chronically homeless individuals. As a permanent supportive housing facility, it will offer numerous amenities aimed at promoting the growth and stability of its residents.
The development will include offices and a small conference room for on-site mental health and other supportive services. An exercise room will promote physical health, featuring an overhead door that connects to the outdoors. The large commons area will house a communal kitchen, and various lounges and outdoor seating areas will encourage social interaction while providing different levels of privacy.
Construction is slated to begin in September 2023 and is expected to be completed by summer 2024. Chamberlin Architect is honored to collaborate with Grand Valley Catholic Outreach on this project, which aligns with their mission “to proclaim the dignity and worth of each person and respond to human needs, while striving to show the compassion of Christ.”

Founded in 2008, Julie Dasher Rugs has grown to be a trusted, go-to source of custom rugs for interior designers across the U.S. and internationally. With our rugs placed in over 26 countries, we offer unique and beautiful designs handmade with world-class quality.
We were honored to be voted the 2022 and 2023 first place winner in the Textiles and Rugs category of the AZ ASID chapter and also awarded Industry Partner of the Year in 2023.
Julie Dasher, our Founder and Lead Designer, has a passion for rug design. Her evolution as a designer began as a fascination with textiles at an early age. Beginning with quilt making and the weaving arts, her interests later evolved into a love of artisan rugs and the exquisite and stunning designs that come to life in wool, silk and many other fibers. Formal design training from the Rhodec School in London, as well as her innate creative talents and interest in interior design as an art, have helped in her design journey. Julie's education includes a BS from the University of Virginia and an MBA and MA from Northwestern University.
With weavers in Nepal, India, Turkey and Afghanistan, the goal of Julie Dasher Rugs is to hire women weavers and purchase their rugs directly from them, eliminating brokers in the supply chain. In Afghanistan, women weavers are 100% of our workforce; their wages have increased by 10%-25%, as a result of their association with us. In Nepal, women weavers now comprise 60% (and growing) of our workforce. We also donate a percentage of our profits to GOODWEAVE International, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending illegal child labor in the rug making industry. All our weavers receive child care and education services through GOODWEAVE and Label STEP.
When you purchase a rug from Julie Dasher Rugs, not only are you bringing a world-class work of art into your home or office, you are also contributing to the betterment of the lives of women weavers around the world.
