Prohibited Use

Essex County College West Essex Campus Building
The new campus building sits on the site of the original campus, a converted 100-year-old elementary school. The project is filled with extraordinary spaces in playful colors and a range of textures, from the polished terrazzo flooring, soft carpeting, light-captured glass panels, breathtaking garden walls, and warm wood panels to the innovative backlit ceiling, a particular standout - the building marks a new chapter in the college’s 55-year mission to welcome and nurture students in the community. “There is no better example of the extraordinary community college system that we have in this great state of New Jersey than Essex County College,” said Governor Murphy.
The Endeavour Elementary School
The North Hanover Endeavour Elementary School serves 900 Pre-K through 4th grade students, who are the children of military personnel stationed at the Joint McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Air Force Base. The 187,000-square-foot school is organized into multiple classroom clusters representing small learning communities and is designed as an open learning environment not constrained by the typical classroom setting. Numerous breakout learning spaces are provided throughout the school, including a Story Time Space, Discovery Center, Activity Centers, and Project Center under a two-story skylight. To balance Endeavour Elementary School’s expansive size with its program uses, multiple color themes are incorporated in the flooring design to unite these large spaces, while "localizing" pods of classrooms around particular designs. Each learning cluster floor system has a playful terrazzo motif beneath natural light from skylights, therefore young students can quickly locate their classrooms. The innovative planning and interior design produce a fun and unique learning environment that inspires success and celebrates the joy of learning.
