Projects (2/4)
For this busy family of 5 including 3 teens in Red Bank, we were tasked with getting rid of a tiny and outdated kitchen lacking storage and comfort to create a large open kitchen and dining area for the family to spend quality time together and to celebrate special moments with family and friends. They desired a white kitchen that would pop, a marble look countertop, plenty of storage for efficiency and ease of use, to add an island if possible, improve lighting with task and ambient light, and a simple and clean design with a Classic Modern look that would not go out of style. To accomplish our design task, we collaborated with the client, their architect, and their contractor throughout the process from concept to final completion with multiple visits to the site and correspondence with the team. We removed the wall between the existing kitchen and dining room and raised the ceiling in the kitchen to open up to the space allowing for an extra-large kitchen. We relocated the existing dining room adjacent to the kitchen to provide even more entertainment, interactive, and functional space for family and friends to enjoy. The family wanted to keep their existing dining room furniture, so it was important to blend the new design with the elements already existing in the home to amplify the overall design of the home. The new dining room had a very large wall that felt vast and cold, so we designed a board and batten effect with a darker gray accent paint as a cost-effective solution to make the wall and spaces feel elevated, more luxurious, more inviting, and visually interesting. Light Fixtures and accessories were selected for both the kitchen and the new dining room to add a pop of color, improve lighting conditions, and create visual interest. It really paid off, creating a balance between the new kitchen and the new dining room as one integrated design. We shopped with the client for the best appliances and plumbing fixtures with our trusted vendors to help ensure their functional needs were met and to fit with the overall design vision. As an added bonus we were able to offer savings on the total cost of goods for this specific project. Instead of a double oven and a cabinet integrated microwave, we included a speed oven that also has a microwave feature to conserve and maximize space. We included a beverage fridge and located it next to the sliding door for convenience of use and to prevent water tracking with wet feet from the pool. The plumbing fixtures were personally hand selected by the client based upon the guidance and direction by Judi of how each fixture would function and perform for the best results for their active family. This kitchen also comfortably seats 6, allowing space for everyone to move freely, work or do homework with convenient power outlets for devices, to enjoy the kitchen, and to experience the beautiful view of their backyard from the large viewing window. The butler pantry contains plenty of additional storage solutions along with a kid’s refreshment bar for infused water and fun snacks on the go. Between the butler pantry, the small pantry that was once a dead space, and the island we provided tons of storage options to make cooking and entertaining a breeze. The family loves their new kitchen and dining room. The kids enjoy having their friends come over and special memories are being created with family. We could not be happier that they are happy with their new kitchen and dining room! This is our why…to impact lives for the better and create joy in spaces the homeowner can feel proud of.
Exquisite & Refined Main Bath & Kids Bath
A family of four living in Atlantic Highlands hired us to design their main and kid’s bathroom. They were interested in the look of stone with warmer tones/colors, improving function and creating more desirable spaces. Mom and Dad wanted to create not just beautiful, but more functional spaces for their two young children, ages 4 and 2. They liked having a drop in jacuzzi tub with its step and the general layout of the bathing area. Mom enjoys sitting on the step so her daughter can sit while Mom does her hair. The existing bathroom seemed visually overwhelming, so the challenge was to create a cohesive and calming result. They also enjoy having a large mirror with adjustable lighting. Dad was a big fan of his towel warmer, so we made sure to get him a beautiful new towel warmer. For the master, a taupe travertine look helped achieve a warm, calming, soothing, and relaxed environment. This environment proved to be perfect for getting ready for the day, enjoying a shower, or relaxing in the jacuzzi tub. We took everything out and rebuilt it to our specifications to align all the parts, correct the angles, include a shower seat, and showcase the bathing area. The framing of the windows with tile helped to create a cohesive and visually comforting feeling. We specified a large format tile to avoid grout lines on the face of the tub surround creating a seamless appearance. Their previous vanity was very small leaving a lot of wasted space. To resolve this problem, we went big by relocating the door to allow for a wall-to-wall vanity with lower and upper cabinets providing 10 feet of maximum storage solutions while creating something beautiful. The glass backsplash tile contributes texture and depth, while its placement makes the vanity appear much larger. We added a rain head and a handheld in addition to the shower head to make it easier for Mom to bathe the kids, but it also made it more fun for the kids. The kid’s bathroom followed suit with the master bathroom. Warm, nurturing colors were introduced to create an inviting environment. I added a little pop of fun with the circles on the floor and the complimentary shower niche backsplash. No longer was the toilet paper holder next to the shower getting soaked after each use. In our drawings we aligned the grout lines and tile with the shower niche openings. I was so very impressed at the skill and commitment to detail the contractor provided to execute the entire design but most specifically the beautifully aligned niches. This really helped to create a clean result.
