Los Angeles Remodel Project
We completely remodeled this entire house in Los Angeles, starting with redesigning the kitchen and two bathrooms. The kitchen was made larger and we changed the entry to the other side of the room. We also closed off a window that was opening into a connecting room. It was originally the front of the house. Closing this off made more sense and made both spaces more functional. Both bathrooms were designed to be calm and spa-like. In the smaller bathroom we borrowed from a closet in the next room to make the shower twice the size. In the larger bathroom we added a free-standing tub. We put in all new hardwood flooring throughout the house and all new custom light fixtures and window treatments as well. In the living room we selected a sofa from Article that matches our client's request for soft curves and removeable cushions. To compliment it we chose a round Muuto coffee table in oak and the tapestry on the wall was hand-woven by the Karen. Made from jute and rag paper, the piece is dyed for a rich, intense color and texture that transforms the space, adding warmth and dimension. In the study we created a major transformation of the fireplace. We completely redesigned it into a more neutral and soothing focal point. It was previously bricks painted in blue and white and definitely did not align with our client's preferred style. We put stucco over it and the surface is finished with Portola Limewash Mission, adding texture that contrasts beautifully with the walls. For seating, we selected two custom chairs from Hooker Furniture, upholstered in a blue and taupe tweed performance fabric, with an antique honey finish on the wood. The hexagon-shaped accent table and abstract painting over the fireplace are from Cozy Stylish Chic, adding a modern touch to the room. Finally, we had custom cordless Roman shades made for our client, providing both privacy and decoration.
Pasadena Kitchen Remodel
This total kitchen remodel not only enlarged the space, by moving the wall between the kitchen and the dining room out further and replacing it with a peninsula and upper cabinets, so it would be open as well as bigger. We installed all new custom shaker cabinets in this mix of stained wood and a beautiful blue painted color. The backsplash tile are arabesque shaped ceramic with a blue border and the countertops are quartz. We installed all new engineered wood flooring. The appliances are Jenn-Air Stainless Steel. There is also a lovely matching banquette/kitchen nook and pantry on the other side of the room. The pantry houses a stacking washer and dryer along with storage. photography@nolascostudios
