Inspiration for the Design The inspiration for the design selections for 10207 Nina Ridge was molded by the Builder’s original concept for the home. Chad Schulz, president of Buttrum Construction wanted RLO Design, LLC to develop a traditional-to-transitional style that married with the Hill Country setting at the Canyons at Scenic Loop Development. RLO Design along with BC’s established and talented resources took that concept and began envisioning and planning the finishes. Included in BC’s resources, and in the design process, are thirty-plus-years experienced, superintendent, Cliff Griffin, in-house designer and accountant, Kathaleen Lookadoo, as well as over a dozen industry partner representatives. The theme that evolved as selections were made and approved was a simple and organic work that included various uses of beehive-like hexagon shapes, natural stones and veining, hues of earthy taupe, soft shades of moss and hints of sky blues. Hexagonal tiles float on backsplashes, hardware selections have 6-sided elements and focal pieces like a vanity sink and mirror reflect the organic hexagon shape. Travertine, quartz and woods are utilized throughout the home to add warmth and texture. High and low lights achieve definition in the home with the touches of dark tones in tile, countertops and iron materials as well at the light crème cabinets. Distressed wood light fixtures with oversized Edison bulbs are juxtaposed into the spaces adding the transitional styles appearing in current trends while still holding onto the Hill Country traditionalism of the home’s location. Clean satin nickel finishes are on the plumbing, hardware and light fixtures creating a cohesive feel as one moves through the spaces. Landscaping is kept native with Mountain Laurels, Vitex, Lantana and Texas Sage bordering the façade of this thoughtfully designed dwelling. Nina Ridge is a “realized” soothing blend of organic traditional-to-transitional design selections brought to life by skilled and talented craftsmen and women.
