Overview

This 24-year-old home desperately needed a renovation to enhance aesthetics while also creating a more functional footprint. Architectural transformations included switching the location of the small kitchen with the existing breakfast room, which was enlarged by capturing a portion of the covered porch. The generous new kitchen has a large bay window that overlooks the surrounding pool and grounds, and the updated breakfast room is lined with shelves to display the client’s extensive collection of pottery.

In the living room, a heavy fireplace mantel was replaced with a custom-carved marble design from Spain that features corner medallions and delicate fluting. Antique sconces and a gilded chandelier complement a contemporary James Turrell art piece. The dining room features a custom deGournay chinoiserie wallcovering in a muted color story and the ceiling is coated in a high-gloss apricot Farrow and Ball hue to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. A pair of gilded chandeliers and wool draperies with delicately beaded trim and contrasting roman shades complete the design. In the library, a newly-installed art niche highlights a Frankenthaler from the homeowner’s collection which comes alive against the deep blue wall. The ceiling’s soft gold-leafed wallcovering weaves in a dash of sparkle and shine.
