We designed a colossal modern home with Landry Design Group as the architect. The ground-up project features an indoor zen garden, stunning mix of artisanal furniture craftsmanship and evocative art. Alongside the glamorous touches the house is grounded in stone walls, aged limestone, lavastone kitchen counters, vintage French oak, and other hardy materials suitable for daily living and frequent entertaining. We took this diamond in the rough — an Old Las Palmas gem in Palm Springs that had been hiding in the dark — and overhauled it inside and out. Inside, we reconfigured rooms, relocating the living room fireplace and adding windows and doors to bring light in. We restored textural finishes and bold silhouettes. A black-and-white palette as a back drop is always an elegant option, and a curated mix of art, furniture, patterned textiles and unique objects is enthralling. The pool and spa were re-clad in Moroccan tile, and a fireplace at one end of the courtyard provides a comfortable gathering place on balmy nights. Photography by Douglas Friedman.
