Sunrise Resort Bathroom
A couple with their new lakeside contemporary Mediterranean home needed to accommodate disabled family visitors in a first-floor guest suite. In addition, the homeowners about to enter their 50s wanted to plan for life-long accessibility for the home and meet the vision and mobility needs of upcoming surgeries. Renovating to accessibly accommodate a variety of medical devices was crucial while not compromising the style with medicinal functionality. To blend with the style of the home, the guest bath was renovated in a French Mediterranean style achieving an adaptable, accessible, resort-like getaway for family members with different abilities. Style is not compromised by integrating beautiful medical equipment that fits the design style. A color scheme of French lavender and navy blue were selected and lavender scents in the bath reinforce the design. The design scheme was inspired by the east-facing water views of the home and watching the sunrises. The east end shower tile gradates to evoke a sunrise and the west end tub wall gradates to evoke a sunset. Both have a navy blue horizon accent tile as a horizon line. The lavender accent wall highlights the toilet and wall-mounted vanity to provide enough contrast for family with vision impairments. Accessibility features include: Smart shower and bath technology, tiltable mirrors for height ranges of guests, antimicrobial UV light in the bath fan, custom wheelchair accessible vanity with storage, non-slip surfaces, easily accessible bathtub drainage lever, bathtub bench for transferring, flush entries to bathroom and shower, paint scheme incorporating wayfinding features, wheelchair turning space, a bidet or toilet paper option, a bidet that works with guests personal medical equipment, and in-wall reinforcement all around the room for installation of grab bars or other medical equipment as needed.
Wildfire Bathroom
A master bathroom renovation based on the colors of the couple’s favorite artwork — a photograph called Wildfire. New features included new cabinetry with custom paint, vanity, shower bench and marble tile. The orange and tan scheme was pulled from the inspired artwork.
