Overview

For this busy family of 5 including 3 teens in Red Bank, we were tasked with getting rid of a tiny and outdated kitchen lacking storage and comfort to create a large open kitchen and dining area for the family to spend quality time together and to celebrate special moments with family and friends.

They desired a white kitchen that would pop, a marble look countertop, plenty of storage for efficiency and ease of use, to add an island if possible, improve lighting with task and ambient light, and a simple and clean design with a Classic Modern look that would not go out of style.

To accomplish our design task, we collaborated with the client, their architect, and  their contractor throughout the process from concept to final completion with multiple visits to the site and correspondence with the team. We removed the wall between the existing kitchen and dining room and raised the ceiling in the kitchen to open up to the space allowing for an extra-large kitchen. We relocated the existing dining room adjacent to the kitchen to provide even more entertainment, interactive, and functional space for family and friends to enjoy.

The family wanted to keep their existing dining room furniture, so it was important to blend the new design with the elements already existing in the home to amplify the overall design of the home. The new dining room had a very large wall that felt vast and cold, so we designed a board and batten effect with a darker gray accent paint as a cost-effective solution to make the wall and spaces feel elevated, more luxurious, more inviting, and visually interesting. Light Fixtures and accessories were selected for both the kitchen and the new dining room to add a pop of color, improve lighting conditions, and create visual interest. It really paid off, creating a balance between the new kitchen and the new dining room as one integrated design.

We shopped with the client for the best appliances and plumbing fixtures with our trusted vendors to help ensure their functional needs were met and to fit with the overall design vision. As an added bonus we were able to offer savings on the total cost of goods for this specific project. Instead of a double oven and a cabinet integrated microwave, we included a speed oven that also has a microwave feature to conserve and maximize space. We included a beverage fridge and located it next to the sliding door for convenience of use and to prevent water tracking with wet feet from the pool. The plumbing fixtures were personally hand selected by the client based upon the guidance and direction by Judi of how each fixture would function and perform for the best results for their active family.

This kitchen also comfortably seats 6, allowing space for everyone to move freely, work or do homework with convenient power outlets for devices, to enjoy the kitchen, and to experience the beautiful view of their backyard from the large viewing window. The butler pantry contains plenty of additional storage solutions along with a kid’s refreshment bar for infused water and fun snacks on the go. Between the butler pantry, the small pantry that was once a dead space, and the island we provided tons of storage options to make cooking and entertaining a breeze.

The family loves their new kitchen and dining room. The kids enjoy having their friends come over and special memories are being created with family. We could not be happier that they are happy with their new kitchen and dining room! This is our why…to impact lives for the better and create joy in spaces the homeowner can feel proud of.
